High temperatures may also be harmful to queens, their developing ovaries and their egg viability.

> Fluctuating temperatures are important factors that affect the growth, development, and reproduction of insects, especially high temperatures, which can hinder the metabolic processes in insects and thus are considered to be a significant environmental stress. 

> For example, high temperatures have an impact on ovarian development and oogenesis in Drosophila, which directly decreases their fecundity and population density. The reason for the above results is that the reproductive physiology of insects needs a constant energy supply, while high temperatures influence the energy transfer process in insects.
