I notice all the books quoted so far are what I would call text books. This
will probably only be available in Australia but a book written back in the
1950's (as I recall) called "Following the flow" by Kylie Tennant.

The author spent time with some migratory beekeepers in northern New South
Wales and Queensland and tells their story. It gives an insight into how
beekeeping was carried out then. Although the actual names of the
beekeepers are not used in the book, older beekepers tell me you can put
real names to the charcaters in the book if you know these beekeepers.

Something to consider for a good light read.
