The oldest guy in the US was a beekeeper, and still eats pollen every day.

February 26, 2003 -- BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. - A teaspoon of bee pollen with each meal - and
an occasional nip of whiskey in the morning - is the secret to a life spanning three centuries,
said America's oldest man.

"It's helped my rheumatism and my arthritis. I know it hasn't hurt me any," Fred Hale Sr., 112,
said yesterday at an assisted-living community 15 miles northwest of Syracuse.

Hale, who was born in 1898, became the nation's oldest man after 113-year- old John McMorran
died of heart failure Monday in Lakeland, Fla.

Until he was 107, Hale lived independently and drove a car. He walked a mile each day, mowed
his lawn, tended a vegetable garden and fruit trees and kept honey bees.
