In my experience, most of us don't actually know the truth. The first
person we kid is ourselves, and frankly, I don't know if we could
function without at least some illusions.

Anyone who reads my diary can see how I keep discovering how
I assumed something that is not so, or neglected or underestimated
the importance of some fairly obvious fact.

Words also tend to get tangled up. AHB is a somewhat imprecise
catchall term that can be meaningful, informative, or pejorative
depending on the context.

I think the value of this list is that we can test our ideas out on
friends who can be counted on to set us straight or reveal their own
lack of comprehension and gain insight by discussion.

So, I think that the most we can ask for is frankness, consideration,
and disclosure of all the facts necessary for others to evaluate our ideas.

If we give the facts as best we can, then others can interpret or
misinterpret them however they like, and in new and novel ways.

If we withhold crucial facts, others will be led to false conclusions, so
that is where honesty comes in -- if we actually know the facts ourselves.
