From a UK point of view this all seems too early to draw any conclusions.

I never count losses until OSR comes into flower (April/May).

Having said that, most colonies seem OK with most very heavy still.  We have had quite a hard winter so far - not exceptionally cold, but endless grey skies and temperatures not much above freezing.
