So how does the resistance (R factor) of heat transfer of the larger cell come into play for heat 

The issue with R factor has been about plastic core over pure beeswax rather than cell size.

heat tranfer is less with a brood nest with a sheet of plastic every couple inches was believed at the time.

Beekeepers in warm areas and those wintering in warm areas accepted plastic foundation quicker than those in the far north.

Is there still Canada beekeepers which will not use plastic foundation?
