Bill I have done just what you suggest, and gotten away with it.  On the
other hand I have had queens released very fast, when the candy is soft,
with the queen killed.  I do not like to have queens released while I am in
the hives because of the agitation state the bees are in.  Even if I want
her released quick I leave enough candy to have her release occur after the
hive is closed up, and the bees have had time to calm down.  The last
packages we bought were given a frame of brood at installation.  We did not
have any supercedure with them.
