I now have a text version of Murray Reid's article from the 1974 New
Zealand Beekeeper, titled "The Inside Story of Feeding Sugar to
Bees". Murray discussed the energy/effort implications of feeding
dry and liquid syrup to colonies, providing a good technical overview
to the process of converting sugar into stores.

If you would like my autoresponder 'robot' to send you a copy, send a
new message to me at:

(Don't just REPLY to this message, or it will go to the entire
list!) In the *Subject:* line of your message, put the words:

SEND SYRUP

Nothing else - no please, no thank you! (You'd still get the post,
but I'd have to send it to you manually). Don't write anything in
the body of the message (as I probably won't see it). You'll get
the article next time I check my mail.
