Bob,
Well, your term "faith based" sort of describes my opinion of small cell at this point.  That doesn't mean they might not have something, but I'm not willing to waste my time in the beeyard when it's not demonstrable in controlled studies.  I just wish the proponents of small cell would step up with specific suggestions to refine those studies which have failed to show an advantage from small cell for varroa control.  Instead it's well that study didn't accurately reflect how we keep bees.  Why?  Specifically what was wrong with the study and how could it be redesigned?  We have an significant number of new beekeepers coming into our local club and the small cell thing is like candy to them.
