Additional info pertaining to this:

In the Johnson thesis that Ghislain sent us (http://archive.hshsl.umaryland.edu/bitstream/10713/2147/1/Johnson_umaryland_0373D_10323.pdf) on page 51 she reviews an article by Van Dijk (2010) and says that the only invertebrate order that she (Van Dijk) found which actually BENEFITED from the presence of imidacloprid in natural water systems was Hydracarina....and that's a mite!!!!

Wasn't there a discussion here about the possible aggravated effect of Varroa on honeybees in the presence of imidacloprid?  Maybe it's not only/just due to drugged bees, but maybe the mites themselves are affected and in this case, not in a desirable way...they benefit somehow????
