I have 27 hives.. and have treated none for the last 3 years.. I lost  3 
last winter due to starve out.. 
This year about a week before Fall official, I lost one hive  to mites.. 
(queen was a Cordovan from Ohio) that was used to start a nuc in  June.. The 
parent hive, and rest of the hives are doing quite well.. Spring will  tell.
