Education is a relationship which requires immense effort on the part of the learner and the teacher. Failure to communicate should not blamed on anyone in particular, etc. Even so-called experts may have a very narrow expertise. If everything is right, learning takes place. But even then, it can be a slow and difficult process. Some of us want to learn constantly; some want to give it a rest once in a while.
