  Was a large upright
> freezer with tight gaskets.

The freezer was airtight? Commercial incubators always have openings to
allow some outside air into the incubator. Even cheap Styrofoam. Adjusting
the outside air is problematic in an unheated envirnoment.

I have hatched many exotic bird eggs as well as mute & black swan eggs.
Closing off the air intakes will cause the eggs not to hatch. My guess is
the same would happen with queen cells and especially problematic with
queens ( lack of oxygen) which hatch and are confined to cell protectors
but I could be wrong. I always allowed air to enter my queen cell incubator.
