Sandy asks if there are polystyrene shallows being made.

I know something about the subject of polystyrene hives and feel safe saying
that none are make today and it is very unlikely that they will be made in
the near future.  The reason is simply that one of the major advantages of
polystyrene, the weight savings, is just not worthwhile in the case of
shallows.  Wooden shallows are all ready very light.

Do not hesitate to use wood shallows on top of polystyrene deeps or
mediums...they work just fine.
