I would like to know the protocol for handling a hive that swarms while under a pollination contract.

Never heard of that actually being an issue.   Almonds are the most heavily inspected,  and the bees are pretty unlikely to be ready to swarm at that point yet.   Most other crops in my experience the landowners never look in a hive.  I do a lot of melons and that grading has never been a discussion.
