However, I believe that Roger was poetically referring to the process of
evolution of the plants by survival of those plants that best utilized the
visits of the bees the best.  Those that didn't have their stamens and
pistols most strategically placed so that bees would brush against them in
the process of harvesting the necter would have a much less of a chance of
reproducing.  Those with the most kids, seeds, populates the world.
