The curve is so steep at this time of year, I am wondering if it had to do
with the bulk of mites being hidden in brood combined with a declining bee
population. I know MAQS kills some mites in capped brood - but what
percentage? I had a yard this year that was at 6% mites on Sept 23. I
treated it with OAV which should have killed better than 90% of the
phoretic mites. When I checked again on Oct 3rd the mites levels had
increase to over 9%. That is a lot of mites hidden away in the brood.
