Hi all,

When we switched to Tylosin back about 6 years ago or so, the guys started reporting a puzzling phenomenon they never had seen before. Some hives were quite infected and they even burned a few. 
I recognized it immediately, but had only seen it many years before and it was for all practical purposes nonexistent for many many years until we switched our treatments. It was EFB. 
With one or two dustings a year with TM (off "honey making" season), it has returned to obscurity. 
Btw, it is very rare for us to see much AFB and when we do, we burn it. It is so inconsequential to burn a few hives(frames and bees), we don't hesitate. Just throw them on the truck and set them over the burn barrel upon return at the end of the day. It's just not worth the effort to baby them with treatment, although infrequently I have treated hives with very light infections, no doubt picked up from robbing out hives in the area in the spring with Tylosin.
