	Mostly to Walter Farina-

I have caught several (and observed numerous) Mallophora
orcina catching honey bees in bee yards in North Carolina. It is a common
species across the southern U.S. It is also a beautiful bumble bee mimic.
I have also observed another robber fly, Promachus rufipes,
catching honey bees.
That is as close as I can come to M. ruficauda.
