I wonder how the trap would work if you baited it with a nuc or small hive, or even frames of brood. Maybe the damaged frames could be piled into the trap as bait.
Or, if the bear completely ignored the traps and won't go in, maybe you could get three traps and move a hive into each trap to keep them unmolested. ;-) (That's a smile and a wink hoping to brighten your day).
Sorry for your losses. I can't imagine the frustration. Hope something works. Maybe a nice salmon from the deli would draw him into the trap.
