Sure we do. It's called heat. We can't see it, but we can certainly feel it.

You misunderstand.  Pit vipers can map it.   For a pit viper, it's like vision.  Meanwhile, you cannot distinguish infrared from any other long-wave radiation, and you lump it all into your "heat" sensation.  You cannot distinguish infrared.
