You're absolutely right, Kim.  ABF is the sponsor.  And it would have been
nice to know what the topic was supposed to be.  From
http://www.abfnet.org/essay/rules.html :

For the 2001 essay contest, the essay topic is "Ecouraging (sic) Youth to
Become Beekeepers."

(if not better spellers)...

Having read the imaginative essay in question, I must admit to being
surprised that the essay wasn't considered by some as "on topic".
