Since April '96 -and according to Bob Noel's research- I have tried the use
of essential oils for varroa mite control. I noticed that NATURAL
wintergreen oil proved to be very efficient to kill mites, however
ARTIFICIAL wintergreen oil (Metyl Salicilate) although it smells about the
same -(commonly sold in pharmacies to relieve neck stiffness and muscle
contractures)- didn't work at all.

I suggest you'd better not waste your time with it.
