Hi Jim & All

There is just the difference, my heavily insulated, double walled, shiplap
clad, double glazed solar melter only causes wax to melt to a fully fluid
state on a few days in the year (and I tune the angle of incedence for
maximum possible insolation). (latitude 52.38)

Even at it's best it will only melt just over a pound of wax per day.

On the other hand a crock pot/slow cooker is a very low wattage and will
melt it's way steadily through one or two pounds of wax per day, any day.
