This topic has also been covered extremely well here on BEE-L, and is
available to all in our archives. It has also been covered from differing
perspectives in Bee Culture recently, and other magazines over the years.

The topic is *not* a simple one by any means, nor is the answer a simple yes
or no. Nor is it resolved for the wholle world by success or failure in one
or several years, as, seemingly, many would wish.

As with most beekeeping techniques, the use of wraps requires some
expertise, judgement, and powers of observation. Moreover, whether wrapping
will pay off or not, is not always predictable in advance, as no one can
predict unusual weather that may be encountered.

There are winters here when, looking back, we realise that we would have
been fine without wraps. In other winters, the wraps make their biggest
contribution in spring, or at least at the time of year when we normally
expect spring :)

Each beekeeper has different different circumstances, different goals, and
are satisfied with varying levels of success. As with many questions in
beekeeping, the best answer is "Depends...".
