I saw a drone entering a colony on 4th January when bees were flying 
strongly.  That same colony was producing drone brood at about that 
time last year and went on to produce a reasonable crop of honey.  More 
recenly we have had lots of rainy days and are just emerging from the 
longest cold spell for years with snow lingering for almost a week. 
Usually, here in the south of England, it is gone within hours.
