You can find offense under every syllable if you look hard enough. I am a dyed in the wool Yankee and proud of it. I've been referred to as a Yankee by Southerners, by many Southern beeks (beeks, by the way, is a term used to describe Philippinos, some would find that offensive). You can take things as they're offered, or take offense at shades of language everywhere.
