Preacher asked about replacing old comb

If you take all the comb out when the flow begins you also take out all
brood, which is not good.

A method successfully practiced up here in Sweden, or actually more in
Norway, is to shake the bees onto foundation (only foundation) in the
fall and feed them sugar syrup until they've drawn the comb and filled
it with stores.

You have to do this before it gets cold, though. I've done this myself
to get more drawn comb. It works very well. Colonies treated like this
seem to develop very well in the following spring.
