I agree fully with your comments.  I made much the same arguments to the two editors.  I've heard back, the editors agree with us.


I posted this to Bee-L as an illustration of the consequences of publish or perish and to show that bees have been hyped so much, that now we see authors who have never had any experience with bees putting together papers on a topic outside their discipline as yet another angle on getting their names out, papers to check off.
