Mark,

I did not commit the news stories to memory. I do recall the B-29 was under
ice and had to be dug out. I also recall the fire. But the plane shook apart
on the rough ice during the attempted take-off and the metal fatigued. It was
not just the fire that rendered it a loss. However, I never understood why
they did nto salvage the parts that were not ruined.
