This spring I will be conducting a Phase II project in Dubuque, Ia. Several
of the sites we will be investigating are connected with the lead mines from
the 1700 and 1800's. I would like to know if anyone has information or
references for conducting archaeology in this type of situation. I am
primarily concerned with health and safety issues although I would like
additional information on techniques and all things archaeological.

I have some references on historical mining in general (i.e. Francaviglia's
"Hard Places", etc.)but would like references specific to lead mining.

You may answer off list to [log in to unmask]

Thanks in advance
