I am interested in Native American sites in New England where crystalline
quartz and/or quartz crystals have been found. Some of this material was
found at a site in Ashland, Massachusetts that is possibly the Praying Indian
village of Magunco.

Among the pieces found were:
a small (about 3cm long) single terminated, six sided clear quartz crystal
An amethyst crystal
also several crystals with only one or two faces among a quantity of clear
crystal quartz.
a quantity of smoky quartz.

Most of the material found at the site was colonial. The quartz items have
not been worked in any way, other than being brought to the site. The
literature suggests these items would be used by shamans, powwows. There is
also some suggestion in that their use was less common during the Woodland
period, but reappeared during the Contact Period.

Thank you for your time.
