Good point David, I have found U.S. Army documents in the U.S. National
Archives, Laguna Niguel and smaller archives that were pinned with straight
pins. There once was a fascinating exhibit at the Bancroft Library on various
brass, copper, and ferrous metal fasteners for reports and letters.
