Deryk Barker, commenting on David Harbin's fine selection of Bruckner
symphonies, writes:

Now, there's a sharp ear! I've heard Wand conducting Bruckner as played
by the Munich Philharmonic and I once heard him Brucknering in Berlin with
the BPO. Always satisfying, persuasive performances. I mean, it stands
to reason. He's been playing Bruckner for the span of two generations
in a country that's awash with Bruckner tradition. I also have him on
recordings with his own orchestra: a curiously disappointing difference!
Incidentally, Fricsay used to do very good Bruckner with the old RIAS
orchestra. I think I remember owning at least one symphony on vinyl (and
maybe still do), so he should be available on recordings somewhere.
