I don't know if I would call the following "famous"--they're mostly second
and third tier in terms of popularity and rarely heard on the radio. But
I think all of these pieces deserve much broader audiences:
Gunnar de Frumerie, Variations and Fugue for Piano and Orchestra;
Doreen Carwithen, Concerto for Piano and Strings;
Carlos Surinach, Concertino for Piano, Strings, and Cymbals;
and piano concerti of Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frederick Delius,
Wilhelm Stenhammar, Aare Merikanto, and Miklos Rozsa.
