Don Satz asked:

I don't know about best, Don, but I've had a lot of pleasure from the
Piano Trios on Naxos, and an Ultima twofer containing the Violin Sonatas
1, 2, some short works for violin and piano, and two string quartets, the
first of which surprised me with a degree of edginess I don't associate
with Saint-Saens. I don't think the chamber music is all that well
represented on CD, so these might be worth your consideration.
