Neither Celibidache nor Karajan get much time on my "play" list.  My
understanding is that Celi had a cult following whereas Herbie had an
enormous following.  So, Herbie must have been much more the "mainstream"
conductor, providing interpretations that were appreciated by the largest
numbers.

I've never heard a thing of Celi's.  What work would be a good place to
start with?
