This is one of my favorite pieces, period, and probably my favorite
Stravinsky. Not so sure about it as the best ballet music, since the only
version I've seen, by the Kirov, on TV, so changed the story that I hated
the production. Prokofief's Romeo and Juliet, and Tchaikovksky's ballets,
would give Petrouchka a good run, also. But as pure music, it's wonderful.
