Why get past it? Surely that's what he intends, isn't it? Whenever I hear
Brahms' 'Academic Festival Overture' I always sing the first line or two
of 'Gaudeamus igitur'. I love it when that happens. Same with Ives's
'Columbia, Gem of the Ocean', etc.
