For these works I strongly recommend Stravinsky's recordings. In the
Symphony in 3 Movements, in particuar, the craggy, angular phrasing is what
the music calls for. It shouldn't be softened, as some other conductors do
it. I've seen disparaging remarks about Stravinsky's consucting, recently,
but if you want to hear these works the way he intended them to sound, get
his own performances.
