Less so than Gould's remarks about Mozart were.

Oh, really? Sounds like you're elevating him to the status of sacred
cow.

Nope, not even close. Frankly, I find the value of his performances do
not particularly stand out when compared to those of any other well-known
concert pianist. I arrived at this through critical listening, not
unquestioning acceptance.

I do not condemn him or anyone else for being unorthodox. We need more
unorthodoxy. Nor do I let radio folks make my decisions for me. But I
do stand by my conviction that he was a mere mole compared to the giant
that was Mozart.
