Libor Pesek ceased to be music director of the RLPO a couple of years ago.
He was succeeded by Petr Altrichter. On the whole, as a subscriber to RLPO
concerts I feel this appointment is welcome news. Schwarz has a good name
in the USA and that should enhance the orchestra's reputation there. I
also agree that they are a fine, underrated orchestra. But in Britain,
unless you find a Simon Rattle, you have to be a London orchestra to be
taken notice of. So they might as well try to build a reputation in the
US. A tour of the States perhaps?
