Chris Bonds wrote in response to my premise that musical truth is
individually determined:

>vital to a robust community of art lovers.

This is where Chris and I must part ways. I simply don't think in
terms of "community" although I'm well aware that it exists and has much
to offer. In my view, community standards for whatever are not generally
based on egalitarian processes. In a typical community there are leaders,
followers, and those who don't enter the circle - they observe, create
their own standards, and do not attempt to persuade others to join them.
When we look at the standards within any community, I think it would be
naive to assume that "truth" has been found. All kinds of unhealty stuff
could be hiding under the rock. Sort of similar to academia.
