Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. of Tempe, Arizona is seeking to
hire a Director of Information to oversee all computer operations, including
an Access database, ArcView and MapInfo GIS, AutoCAD and DesignCad drafting,
field mapping with a total station and 2 hand-held GPS receivers, and
maintenance of 25-30 Windows 95/98 PCs. In addition to direct responsibility
for multiple-project database management, the position involves managing
multiple responsibilities for 2-3 computer cartographers and a key entry
operator. It involves working with several principal investigators, project
managers, and analysts to ensure their information needs are met. Ideally
this person will have strong computer hardware and software skills (i.e.,
speak computer as a first language) and have demonstrated experience as a
supervisor and manager. ACS currently has its own server with a high-speed
data line for our Web page; once we become networked it will replace our
outsourced Internet connection. The Director of Information would be central
to the latter effort. Although a background in archaeology or environmental
studies will be viewed favorably, it will not compensate for deficiencies in
the strong computer skills required for this position. ACS offers a
competitive salary range and benefits, including participation in a 401(k)
program, once certain criteria have been met. ACS does not discriminate in
employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion,
sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected
by law. We will accept applications for this position until November 30,
1999. If qualified please contact Margie Green at (480) 894-5477 or
