My favourite ending is, perhaps, Brahms' 4th symphony. It isn't
"overreacted", but it's demolisher, and, if I dont remember bad, it's
one of the few "finali" of romantic orchestral works that, being in 3/4,
reaches such level of dramatic intensity. Another favourite --precisely
because it's overreacted-- is Bruckner's 5th. But what about slow endings,
such as Mahler's "Das lied..."?. My favourites are:
* Bruckner's 8th. (Adagio)
* Mahler, "Das Lied..."
* Dvorak's Cello Concerto (3rd movement).
* Verdi's Requiem
* Beethoven's op. 132 Quartet (3rd. movement)
