One last shot at the privy question (see the sh_t you started Ned).

In a publication titled "School Architecture" written in 1917 the state of
Kentucky standardized the construction of privies for schools (whether or not it
was carried out I don't know). There is a drawing showing a separate small
outhouse to be built behind each school building, one for each gender.

In a further note of interesting information on the topic, archeologists in
Scotland have found indoor latrines and garderobes in houses in Perth, Aberdeen
and Edinburgh dating to the late fourteenth century. (btw in Scotland its
pronounced "shite")

And a last bit of useless data, over on Arch-L someone just posted a notice
mentioning the discovery of a 2,000 year old water closet in a Han Dynasty tomb.

Ned have you found a dictionary of terms related to this topic? Twould be a hoot
to have a few terms defined for us.
