THE COTTONWOOD EXPERIENCE: Uranium Mining in San Juan County

[Blanding, Utah]  Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum and Blue
Mountain Shadows will host a talk and discussion about the history of
uranium mining in San Juan County on Thursday, November 8 at 7 p.m. in
the museum auditorium.  Interested local residents with personal
involvement in the early days of uranium mining are encouraged to
attend and relate their own stories.  Monticello historic
archaeologist Lee Bennett, and BLM archaeologist Kathy Huppe, will
present their research into the history of mining in San Juan County.
Discussion to follow.  This free discussion is provided through a
Partnership Grant from the Utah Humanities Council.

Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum is known for its outstanding
programs that provide fun and educational opportunities for adults and
children.  Current exhibits feature the pottery of Mata Ortiz, the
Nativer American Art Awards exhibition, and the watercolors of Moab
artist Serena Supplee.  The park and museum are located at 660 West
400 North in Blanding, Utah.
