EMI is to be congratulated for providing Martha Argerich with a string of
4 ugly cd covers: the Prokofiev/Bartok disc, the Chopin Legendary disc,
the Chopin piano concerto disc, and the new Beethoven/Franck recording.
Colors range from blah to nothing.
Not to be outdone, Philips is giving us a Mozart piano concerto disc
showing a side view of Brendel's face and head with some yellow puss
decorating the bottom. Better yet, there's a new cover of three Ivan
Fischers conducting the Brahms Hungarian Dances: one Fischer is beckoning
a small child (be careful), another is hailing a cab, and the third Fischer
is showing us how wide he was before taking the Jenny Craig dieting plan.
Seems to me a moron could do a better job of developing decent covers.
