About Turangalilas...
My favorite performance of Turangalila is the 31-32 years old RCA Victor -
Red Seal - Dynagroove LP (LSC-7051) with Ozawa conducting Toronto Symphony.
Yvonne Loriod, Piano - Jeanne Loriod, Ondes Martenot.
BTW, Jeanne Loriod at the age of 18 was studying with Maurice Martenot and
in 1968 she had perfected a repertoire of 10 concertos for the Ondes &
Orchestra.
High quality in conduction, performance and recording with Messiaen's
supervision plus interesting notes by the composer. Takemitsu's November
Steps (also my favorite performance of this work) included also with
interesting notes by the composer.
I bought this 'jewel' in the '70s and is included in my top 10 LPs list.
PS.- And if Deryk Barker wrote that the 1967 Toronto SO/Ozawa (RCA)should
be reissued, I would say: it MUST be reissued in CD & SACD.
Dave.
