I've never associated "substance" with "lyrical", and this is the first
time on the list I have read of this assocation.

My meaning of substance was that in the late 1960's and early 70's, young
adults (at least the ones I associated with) were intent on sweeping aside
the conventions and superficial properties of life and really getting down
to the basics. I loved that time period.
